Philosophy

We are an EMI school providing a diversified curriculum to cater for the needs of different learners. At the same time, we emphasize that each student acquires a high level of biliterate and trilingual linguistic proficiency, and are capable of mastering thinking skills;

Thus, we align ourselves with the following beliefs about learning:

  1. We believe that people are created in the image of God. Thus, every child is precious.
  2. We affirm that children enjoy learning.
  3. Children are intelligent.
  4. Learning should not be confined to the classrooms.
  5. Learning is not merely individualistic; knowledge can also be obtained through learning communities.
  6. Learning is not one-way but interactive.
  7. Learning is a process to construct knowledge.
  8. Learning is cognitive and can be activity based.
  9. Learning is through the study of objects so as to cultivate independent and critical thinking.

Innovative Curriculum

  1. Our English curriculum combines the local syllabus with English Literature, facilitating a smooth transition for students planning to further their studies overseas.
  2. Our Music curriculum primarily focuses on string instrumental and vocal training.
  3. Japanese, French and German are available as third language options.
  4. The Reading and Library programs help students cultivate good reading habits and develop independent information-seeking skills and lifelong learning aptitudes.
  5. Humanities subjects (Citizenship, Economics and Society, World History, Geography) and Science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology Modules) are taught in block systems. This approach strengthens students’ foundational knowledge while minimizing the number of subjects they take at any one time.
  6. Our STEAM curriculum focuses on robotics, science, and invention, aiming to empower students the design thinking, AI literacy, problem-solving, and collaborative abilities necessary for the future world.
  7. Opportunities for cross-curricular learning are abounded both inside and outside class, equipping students with the 21st century skills needed in this rapidly-changing world.

Care for Individuality

  1. If the number of students attaining a certain level of proficiency in Putonghua justifies the need, some Chinese classes will be taught in Putonghua.
  2. Bible classes are streamed according to students’ religious background.
  3. Extensive support is given to non-Chinese speaking students, which includes special English sections for courses taught in Chinese, Chinese language and cultural activities, and simultaneous interpretation for talks conducted in languages other than English.

Comprehensive Support Services

  1. We care for students’ spiritual growth. The School Church is founded to provide a spiritual home for students and their family members.
  2. Dormitory program is provided for all S.1 students and other students who live far away.

eLearning

InnoSpace

To support the STEAM curriculum development, the school has built a future classroom called INNOSPACE. INNO refers to innovation; SPACE refers to both the physical space as well as the space in the universe. The INNOSPACE concept germinates from examples of those gigantic information technology offices, like MICROSOFT. Innovative process is incorporated into the space design planning. INNOSPACE is divided into multiple areas: the cozy smart group teaching area, which is to encourage cooperation and group sharing with light and nature as the main tune, the rear of the STAR LAB, which is a high-end technology area equipped with a VR Zone and a simulator; a production improvement testing area, which is housed in the middle with a large number of robotic parts, three-dimensional printers, and laser cutting machine; and lastly, one big and one small production publishing areas on the two sides. The purpose of INNOSPACE is to facilitate students to better understand the future of science and technology, and inspire them to create their own inventions so as to make an impact in the future technological world.

Building a 21st Century eCampus

The whole campus is connected with a stable and high-speed WiFi 6 network. All the classrooms are equipped with computing facilities and projectors. There is one standard PC Computer Lab, one Multi-media iMac Lab, a Production Studio, a Digital Star Lab and a multi-functional library with rich multi-media resources.

In today’s Digital Age, students can use their own device to learn at their own pace, wherever they are. Our school launched the “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) Scheme in September 2014.
