Philosophy and Rationale
Since its inception in 2017, our Innospace has become an incubator for creativity and innovation. With the ongoing enhancement of our school-based STEM curriculum, students are equipped with opportunities to engage in imaginative thinking and practical problem-solving. Modules such as ‘Robotics’, ‘Invention’, ‘Scientific investigation’, and ‘Maker’ empower them to apply their knowledge in addressing real-world challenges and supporting those in need, thereby promoting social good. Participation in a wide array of co-curricular activities and competitive arenas has been instrumental in expanding their horizons and refining their competencies. The recognition they have garnered from a host of local and international contests is a testament to their ingenuity and pioneering spirit. Our robust collaborations with industry leaders and academic institutions provide students with invaluable, hands-on learning encounters while broadening their exposure at both theoretical and practical levels.
Learning Experiences
Our school offers an innovative STEAM curriculum to S.1 to S.3 students. Through solving real-world problems with “design and make” process, this programme aims at
- Enhancing students’ interests in Science, Technology, Arts and Mathematics
- Strengthening students’ integration and application of cross-disciplinary knowledge and skills
- Nurturing students’ creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Students do STEAM “maker” group projects in each 10-week session, in which they have to investigate, design, build, test, improve, present, and evaluate. The STEAM curriculum consists of three modules: Robotics, with focuses more on programming and mechanics; Invention, more on creativity and product design; and Science, more on science research and investigation. Students’ potential in innovation can be fully utilized through their active minds-on and hands-on learning.

UCCKE offers various STEAM activities and motivates students to participate in and learn from different competitions. Through these activities, I explored different aspects of STEAM, including programming, robotics, and artificial intelligence, and learned how to apply them to different scenarios. This helped me to discover my interest and inspired me to pursue computer science at university.
Furthermore, I acquired valuable experience and skills from working on different projects with my teammates, where I had the autonomy and freedom to make decisions and implement solutions. The teachers are always supportive and helpful. They also give me lots of autonomy and flexibility they only intervened when we encountered difficulties and needed guidance, which greatly enhanced my leadership and problem-solving skills, and equipped me well for future challenges.
